The journey

The Journey

From contracted fields to a sealed carton in cold store: this is how FrostHarvest keeps IQF quality repeatable. Open each step to see what happens on the line.

  1. 1

    Sourcing

We work with growers and partner plants that meet our food-safety specifications. Fruit and vegetables are contracted from regions that match the season, so supply stays consistent through the year.

  2. 2

    Picking

Harvest windows are short. Produce is picked at the right maturity and moved quickly from field to plant so colour, flavour and structure are kept.

  3. 3

    Washing

Incoming lots are washed to remove field soil and loose debris before they enter the production line.

  4. 4

    Manual sorting

Trained operators remove defects by hand. Depending on the SKU we can also destone, slice or press at this stage.

  5. 5

    IQF freezing

Product is individually quick frozen as soon as possible after harvest. Fast freezing locks in texture so pieces stay free-flowing after thawing.

  6. 6

    Optical sorting

After freezing, lots pass electronic sorting to take out remaining foreign material and off-spec colour.

  7. 7

    Packing

We pack to order: 4×2.5 kg bags in cartons, 10 kg cartons, 20 kg or 25 kg polycoated bags, drums and octabins.

  8. 8

    Quality assurance

In-house checks cover microbiology, pesticides and specification. A lot is only released when the agreed spec is confirmed.

  9. 9

    Distribution

Our logistics team coordinates temperature-controlled transport in Europe and export documents for shipments further afield.
